My Solace.

Prayer, a poem by Only For The One

In the depths of these reticent nights, I find a connection, with The One.

He Hears me. He Sees me. He knows me.

He answers my calls.

I ask and I plead. I beg and I bleed. A deep anguish within me…

How long can I endure?

The world is in flames.

The Body is in pain.

Stuck in a rut.

Anger, fear, failure and shame.

My blood boils and burns.

My guts spin and turn.

My mind keeps on searching.

My heart keeps on yearning.

The only thing I’m seeking, is peace.

Pure peace.

I didn’t find it through people.

Didn’t find it through fame.

Didn’t find it through material.

It’s all toil, it’s all games.

So I cast it all aside,

And I decide to confide,

To The One, I submit.

Show me the way please, oh Allah,

Because I surrender, I’m done.

When I made a secret prayer,

I asked Allah for ease.

My heart was on fire

But The One gave me peace.

All those long dark nights, in the masjid, praying side by side,

All those secret cries, to You alone Allah we confide.

Accept us and forgive our misdeeds,

Save us from The Hellfire

Show us the way that’s right,

It is You alone we desire.

Grant us the good of this life,

Grant us the good of the next,

Grant us guidance and mercy,

Let us live and die a good end.

Oh Allah, this is my prayer,

To You The One Most High above all

Don’t let this Ramadan disappear

Except that you’ve forgiven us all.

Forgive us who believe in You,

Have mercy on our poor, needy souls,

Protect us from the flames of Hellfire,

Help us achieve the best of goals.

Want to see it with my own eyes,

Sweet, eternal Paradise.

Oh Allah, I know you cherish and care,

And I believe You’ll answer my prayer.

Help me please, help me please,

Grant me peace, grant me my prayers.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:  “Whoever stays up and prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” Agreed upon.
